Artist Statement

I view my art as a moment of inconsistency, a break in the cycle, a single line of code introduced to a vast network, a call to arms graffitied on the subway wall, a reinvented fairy tale read to a child, the injection of creative life into a dead space.  I use installation practices to create the environments in which these interventions are given space to exist. And I use the media of photography and video as a tool of documentation: Documentation of how things could be, should be visualized, often juxtaposed with the reality of how things are as a criticism to provide the impetus for change. I find myself drawn to apparent contradictions: nature/technology, femininity/feminism, analog/digital, text/visual, tradition/revolution and the exploration and integration and creation of a space where they can coexist.
